Chapter 10. Installing Basic System Software

10.94. D-Bus-1.10.18 64 Bit

D-Bus is a message bus system, a simple way for applications to talk to one another.

10.94.1. Installation of D-Bus

Prepare D-Bus for compilation: 

CC="gcc ${BUILD64}" USE_ARCH=64 PKG_CONFIG_PATH=${PKG_CONFIG_PATH64} \
./configure \
    --prefix=/usr \
    --sysconfdir=/etc \
    --libdir=/usr/lib64 \
    --libexecdir=/usr/lib64/dbus-1.0 \
    --localstatedir=/var \
    --with-systemdsystemunitdir=/lib/systemd/system \
    --docdir=/usr/share/doc/dbus-1.10.18 \
    SYSTEMD_LIBS="-L/lib64 -lsystemd"

Compile the package: 

make

This package does come with a test suite, but it requires several packages that are not included in CLFS. Instructions for running the test suite can be found in the CBLFS wiki at http://cblfs.clfs.org/index.php/D-BUS_Core.

Install the package: 

make install

Move the shared library to /lib64 and recreate the symbolic link. 

mv -v /usr/lib64/libdbus-1.so.* /lib64
ln -sfv ../../lib64/$(readlink /usr/lib64/libdbus-1.so) /usr/lib64/libdbus-1.so

Create a symlink so that D-Bus and systemd can use the same machine-id file: 

ln -sv /etc/machine-id /var/lib/dbus

Installed programs: dbus-cleanup-sockets, dbus-daemon, dbus-launch, dbus-monitor, dbus-send, dbus-uuidgen
