I’m polling for the top 10 news items of 2006, with regard to Linux. It doesn’t have to be Ubuntu-related, although if I had to pick my own top 10, Ubuntu would definitely be part of it.
I know other sources will have their definitive lists, as decreed by their in-house pundits. I’m more interested in what the actual user has to offer, as worthy of remembering.
For my own part, I’m partial to the Beryl fork, the Dapper release, Java becoming open source and the Novell-Microsoft juxtaposition. There are plenty more; those were just the first ones to come to mind.
Edit: Well, that went over like a lead zeppelin. Ah well. To be honest, even I thought it was a lame idea.
