I made a small error in an earlier post, describing a machine I encountered a number of errors with — an Optiplex GX260 with a Linksys WMP54G and Jaton Geforce 6200 attached via PCI riser board. I said it wasn’t running any Linux I could find, and I realize now that’s not true.
DSL works on that machine, with a minimum of difficulty. Other distros error out with kernel panics and whatnot, but DSL boots fine.
Of course, I have no network, and it’s probably not worth figuring out how to make it work. That RT61 was a weeklong project under Ubuntu, and I don’t care to revisit it under DSL.
Anyway, I felt a need to correct myself. It is not, as I described it, an impossible setup.
