Iceweasel 2.0 in Debian unstable

Once again I’m late to the party, but I see that Iceweasel 2.0 is available in the Debian unstable repository. I’ll have to rig up some sort of repository jump on my break-it machine to see how it works.

I know it’s probably not going to move into Ubuntu, since it’s not in the repos for Feisty. The Ubuntu crowd seems to have a working agreement with Mozilla … and really, with the push to proprietary drivers, using Firefox is probably small beans.

For me, I find Iceweasel to be faster and lighter than Firefox, and it comes with a cleaner conscience. To each his own, though. That’s the beauty of this whole Linux thing.

    “faster and lighter than Firefox”

As far as I know they haven’t touched anything performance related. I’ve been using Iceweasel in Etch (via sid repos) and never noticed a difference.

Also, I don’t think they are even going to include it in Etch. Right now by default you get Firefox 1.5.

There is one good thing about Iceweasel though. I believe every time you use the Google search box it generates revenue for Debian. Other than that I don’t really like the whole Iceweasel project.
