First, if you’re an Nvidia card user, it’s worth checking out the pledge toward an open-source Nouveau driver for Nvidia cards. Ten bucks is pretty cheap, and if 1,000 people agree with that statement, it would go a long way toward a proper, effective open-source Nvidia driver for Linux. Second — and I found this by way of the previous entry — there’s a nifty layman’s-terms description of the alphabet soup that surrounds Linux graphics here. A lot of the stuff I’ve been reading about since finding Ubuntu is explained here better than anywhere else. I admit I needed that.
