It’s starting to look less and less like a third-rate neighborhood junk shop in here. I’m liquidating a lot of old parts and reassembling the valueless stuff into a workable machine to give away.
This is one of my charity cases …
That’s the carcass of an old super socket 7 machine, which came with one of the mystical 550Mhz AMD K6-2 chips that sold for $400 — in 1998. I disassembled it a little while ago thinking it would be worth reselling, but that’s the weird numberless PCChips motherboard that I can’t trace, and even the mystical 550Mhz AMD K6-2 is of no interest to anyone any more.
So to be honest, it has little value beyond the anecdotal. I’ll rebuild it with two hard drives and two optical drives and a LAN card and put FVWM-Crystal plus Ubuntu on it, and then give it away to someone who wants a kick-around machine. A sad ending, but what can you say? Everything becomes old junk eventually. 😐
