The author of the popular “How to install ANYTHING in Ubuntu” has released his guide into the public domain. The guide was previously at http://monkeyblog.org/ubuntu/installing, but bandwidth and hosting issues became problematic, as the author explains.
He’s released the guide as a tarball here, and it has already been re-hosted at one new location.
Releasing it into the public domain means you’re free to change it into any form you like, modify it or correct it, and republish it in your shape. There’s a lot to work with there, so it’s probably worth examining closer.
P.S.: There is also a Hungarian version of the guide, and a link to a Portugese version as well.
