A deliberate step backward

Edit: Unfortunately, the images originally included in this post are gone, because of hosting problems in late 2009. My apologies.

I swapped my troublesome 750Mhz Pentium III laptop for a 300Mhz Pentium II out on loan to my mom. I was too preoccupied with troubleshooting the mouse lag in Ubuntu, and I decided to forcibly take a step away from it.

And it’s good for me to work on a slower machine. Everything seems so speedy when compared with 300Mhz. I’m still in the process of fine-tuning this one, but it has a lot of potential to it.

By the way, this is a Dell Latitude CPi-A, with a 1024×768 screen attached in place of the original 800×600. The old screen was like looking into a porthole. Video is a Neomagic MagicGraph 256AV, which sucks. Refresh rates are awful, and it can barely handle a 24-bit desktop.

But still, it does all right with Openbox and Arch Linux. Thanks to Klowner for the wallpaper.

This one will be my kickaround machine, while I let that whole mouse lag thing simmer.
