Your new Dell open source computer is incompatible with Vista

Edit: Unfortunately, the images originally included in this post are gone, because of hosting problems in late 2009. My apologies.

Here’s a good one: Dell goes to great lengths to bury their Windows-free machines on their Web site, and even so, once you’ve configured one, you’ll probably get a message like this:

Neural pointed this one out. 😀

Update, 07/01/25: Dell must have gotten wind of the fact that their default options flagged open source computers as incompatible with Vista. Going back through the setup options no longer yields a pop-up window warning. Good thing I took a screenshot. 🙂

Just as a side note, I don’t dislike Dell at all. In fact, all of my machines are Dells, and the last time I bought a new computer it was a Dell. I’m typing on one now.

Of course, the last time I bought a new computer was a year and a half ago, and all the ones I use now I pulled out of the dump heap at the recycling center and refurbished at home. Perhaps someone else had worse luck with them. 🙄

The only way I could get to the non-Windows machines was from the drop-down Products menu.

I couldn’t find any link from any of the products pages, which is where I would think alot of people would start searching from.

    Nice work Dell!
