I still have this thread on my mind, but now it’s something else that has me irritated.
I tried for many hours and hours and hours. I gave up.
Hours? Just hours? Take a look at this poor guy. He spent a month looking for a solution to a wireless problem and finally got one with Slackware. (It was probably something between the 2.6 and 2.4 kernels in Ubuntu and Slack.)
I’m not saying everyone should be fighting with Linux for months in order to get something to work, and I would love it if everything worked out-of-the-box. But please: Don’t cry about how Ubuntu is dysfunctional because you spent hours trying to get sound from your machine, and came up empty-handed. Plenty of people put forth much more effort than that, and they don’t quit or complain.
Sigh. 😐 Oh well. Like I said before, have fun with Vista.
