Edit: Unfortunately, the images originally included in this post are gone, because of hosting problems in late 2009. My apologies.
The Ubuntulite repositories now have version 0.4.3 of Kazehakase in deb form. The 0.4.2 version that comes by default in the Feisty repos is faulty.
If you’re looking for a lightweight alternative to Firefox, Kazehakase is usually a winner, and this backport is working much nicer than the official version.
Edit: Just to be clear, I didn’t compile it, the UL team did. I’m just mentioning it since a lighter version of Firefox is sorely needed. 😉
Cooool, so very cool! I had trouble compiling Kazehakase on Ubuntu, and it’s just great to find this lil’.deb hanging around 😀
Not that I’d need lighter software on the machine on which I’m running Ubuntu, but I generally prefer rational, well-constructed and reasonable software, in terms of resources and speed. Firefox is “teh bloat”.
Now, on Arch, it’s a totally different story: my Thinkpad X31 is still more than capable to handle most tasks, but every extra bit of processing cycles left for other stuff, the better.
Thanks again, mate. Keep up the great work 🙂
