hv3 is still my savior

I don’t use the crippled P4 at work much any more, since my Internet service is working again at home. I can get a solid dose of online time with a screaming fast 1Ghz machine and an array of sub-600Mhz boxes at any time, then ignore this machine — the poster boy for maltreated computers — at work.

But when I do use it (like now), I still browse with hv3. IE is a mess on this machine, and I wouldn’t trust it to take out my garbage anyway. hv3 is doing the job with acceptable speed and only rarely freezes or crashes.

I’ll still attached at the hip to Kazehakase at home, but I’m willing to give hv3 a few more tests under Linux too. And Firefox? Well, I couldn’t tell you the last time I used it. (Actually I could; it’s the default browser for Mach Boot, so I used it only two days ago. But before that I couldn’t tell you when I used it. ๐Ÿ™‚ )

So if you need something standalone for a Windows machine, I recommend it. ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S.: I don’t know enough about hv3_polipo, but I don’t install it when I use hv3 in Windows. I run without it and everything works fine. Linux … well, I haven’t tried yet, so choose your own destiny with that one.

hv3 sounds like a nice browser. But how good can it browse web sites? As good as Kazehakase?

Not as nice as Kazehakase, but it has the potential. I don’t see as much action or updates to hv3 as I do for Kazehakase (which just hit 0.5.0), so it might be that it’s as good as it’s going to get.

Which is still pretty good. Perhaps it will be a reliable option in the future. ๐Ÿ™‚
