I still hijack the Pentium 4 at work sometimes, when the urge hits me, and I still use SliTaz to do it. There’s a last-chance revision of SliTaz available on the home page now, before the 1.0 release.

New additions to the software lineup include Grsync, the Osmo organizer (which is pretty sweet, really — I installed it on my Arch machine and I might have to keep it), Wikiss, and direct editing links for the GTK theme and X session configuration files, which should speed things up if you only want one or two small tweaks each time you run it.

For my own part, I’m still amazed that all that stuff can fit in under 25Mb. I know DSL has cornered the market on the sub-50Mb distro, but SliTaz makes DSL look chubby — and ugly, really. SliTaz is much more attractive than the default DSL setup (and of course, I’m partial to JWM 2.01 now, and prefer it over Fluxbox any day 😉 … sorry Fluxbuntu 😐 ).

I’ll have to check in with the SliTaz crew about a few things … an audio player, or at least an audio streamer, would be nice. Almost everything else is there, but something to play a few tunes off Shoutcast would be pleasant. But that might suggest sound support, and the packages that come with that.

(It’s worth mentioning that if you want USB access, you should use the boot flag mentioned on the documentation page, or just su to root from a terminal and insert the ohci-hcd module. From there you should be able to mount a USB drive manually. The same thing allowed me to use a USB mouse. 😉 )

And the machine I really want to SliTaz on — my old K6-2 450Mhz — can’t get to the network because I don’t have PCMCIA support. I don’t know how much bigger it would be to add pcmciautils and the xircom_cb module (tulip might work … I’m still studying this … 😉 ), but I have a feeling if you add support for one card, you have to start adding all the other ones too, and then you’ve pushed all the way to 174Mb for the ISO … and well, you know what happens next.

Either way, I’m definitely watching and using this one when I can.
