Possible Ubuntulite-RULE merger

Shae Smittle, who runs Ubuntulite these days, and the management of the RULE project (Run Up-to-date Linux Everywhere) have discussed combining their efforts, and now both communities are invited to comment on the idea.

On the Ubuntulite side of the house, you can read the (rather long) e-mail repartee between Shae and Marco Fioretti here. If it strikes you as something you’d like to comment on, can tack your theses onto this thread.

For my own part I don’t see any major obstacles. It seems like both projects have the same goals — running Linux on underpowered hardware — even if they approach it from different angles. RULE appears to be FC- and KDE-based (I’m not very familiar with it though), while Ubuntulite is, of course, Ubuntu- and Openbox-based.

I’d still like a more abbreviated plan of how things would change, but for the most part I’m on board. Edit: Shae has added a four-point summary to the linked thread; thanks Shae!

In the mean time I’m going to examine the RULE project a little more, and see what I’ve been missing.
