My in-house network goals have been further stymied because the only other machine, outside of my own, that I could use to troubleshoot my wireless network runs Windows ME, and of course, Corega doesn’t seem to have drivers for that particular operating system bundled on its setup CD.

I suppose I could go back to the old way, and download the driver package (if it even exists), install it, configure the network and maybe get it working, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I wouldn’t have much more luck getting online. I think it might just be a weak signal.

Which means I might be taking back the router and key. I’ll talk to my co-worker — as far as I’m concerned, it works fine for me in Ubuntu and Arch (so long as it’s an open network 😉 ) — but the added bonus of a proper wireless system was to be able to share the service and the cost. And that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen with this unit.

Considering that this router was a bit expensive, an upgrade isn’t that big a deal. I’ll take the chance and pick up something more powerful … if I can explain to the salesman, in my pidgin Japanese, that this one is too puny. I’ll have to look up “puny” in my electronic dictionary. 😀
