LaRoza, whom you might know as another moderator on the forums, has been talking up his iBook installation that includes nothing X-dependent — in other words, it’s fully command-line and terminal-run. No graphical utilities, everything done from the console.
Apparently it was born in part from a troublesome graphics card but blossomed into something challenging and useful. LaRoza says the application list thus far includes vi as an editor, irssi for chatting, mc as a file manager and lynx and links2 for browsing.
I don’t want to steal the show, so I’ll just say the details and a crop of photos are on his blog. Take a look, and never again assume a CLI-only system can’t be functional.
