Believe it or not, I actually got a taker for that VAIO desktop, and only a day after I put it through the wringer with Xubuntu. So here it is, in its last incarnation, scrubbed clean with a nifty Windows ME/Xubuntu 8.10 dual boot (no GAG this time).
I even disassembled the mouse and the keyboard, and scrubbed each of the 106-plus keys. (I say “plus” because the keyboard has those omnipresent special function buttons.) Two decent speakers, a pair of power cords, case, monitor, system CDs and a fresh-burnt copy of Xubuntu 8.10.
The only things I don’t have are case-to-monitor USB cords (the monitor has a USB hub in it) or a network or phone cable. But all those things are easily replaced at any corner electronics store, and for reasonable prices.
Looks like a good deal to me. All that clean and perfectly operating hardware, for free. Of course, it does come with one small stipulation. …

That is one BIG Enter key. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen one that big before on a keyboard. =p
Congrats on resurrecting that box to usefulness and finding it a proper home.
I remember when I would’ve killed for a SONY desktop like that… Probably in 2002 or 2003. Of course, that was back when my only computer was an outdated Compaq Presario that my parents bought in 1999.
