Hiding in plain sight: dig, host

Sometimes there are useful things hiding right under your nose. Here’s dig, which I found by mistyping … I forget.

Likewise, here’s host.

root@lv-a8280 kmandla # host kmandla.wordpress.com
kmandla.wordpress.com has address 72.233.69.6
kmandla.wordpress.com is an alias for lb.wordpress.com.
kmandla.wordpress.com is an alias for lb.wordpress.com.

dig, host, and a bunch of other things are in the dnsutils package. Not every distro installs that by default, but it’s worth checking.

Looks like I can knock one or two more off my list of software to try. …
